Inclusivity at work: Edmonton Canadian Tire’s new hire enjoys a big milestone

August 23, 2022

The team at the Manning Town Centre Canadian Tire in Edmonton, AB is celebrating a happy moment with one of their newest hires: his first ever pay cheque. This is in part thanks to CJ, a Personal Support Worker who posted on a local community Facebook group looking to find employment for her client and friend, Josh. Josh had been seeking part-time work that he could excel at as a young adult with special needs.

Clare Woods, the General Manager for Canadian Tire Store #347 (located at 3650 - 158th Avenue NW), reached out and met with Josh and CJ. Within a week, Josh received and accepted an offer to join the team. It’s now been a few weeks since that moment, and we’re pleased to share this photo of Josh proudly posing with his first well-earned pay cheque.

At Canadian Tire, we are on a journey to create a culture where belonging thrives, and diversity, inclusion and equity are infused into everything we do. Every day, we see proof of how we are stronger together. To see this in action, Josh encourages shoppers to say hi while he’s on shift at the store on Monday and Tuesday mornings.
